Shout Out – Dawn Camp
Eight kids. Count them, they’re all there. Four girls and four boys and all of them home schooled by their amazing mother Dawn Camp. If you are a regular visitor to this site, you may have seen Dawn before. She wrote the White Balance Lens Cap review and she is a frequent commenter, which is how she got my attention in the first place. And, after her review became the number 1 most visited review on my site, I decided it was time I got to know this woman better.
In a small amount of words – Dawn mimics something of a human Super Ball. She’s everywhere all at once and she almost never slows down. You would think that being a stay at home mom with eight kids (never mind trying to home school them all) would be enough to wipe anyone out. But Dawn not only does this but is also a web designer for Barefoot Designs, a fantastic photographer who has won recognition on I (heart) Faces, is speaking at a women’s conference this summer called She Speaks, is the owner and developer of one of the hottest blogs on the Net called My Home Sweet Home, and she has just been accepted to be the first professional Evangelist for the National Association of Photoshop Professionals. Reading about her makes me dizzy – but Dawn just takes it all in stride.
Quote Dawn: "I’ve always been self-motivated and a bit of an over-achiever. Basically, I set really high standards for myself, but don’t give myself credit for actually knowing anything. I guess the combination of a perfectionistic personality and lack of confidence in what I do keeps me pushing. I analyze things to death once I’m doing them, but I don’t over-analyze whether I should do them. If I give it prayerful consideration and it feels right, I do it. I’m not a long-range planner, which maybe makes me more open to new opportunities and challenges. If an opportunity comes along that is in line with my interests, I’ll take it."
Over achiever, perhaps, but what I see in Dawn and in her photography is true talent, undeniable passion, and a vast amount of heart. She is a genuine wonder and a wonderful person to have in your life. I am so glad she is in mine.

This is why Dawn Cook is today’s Shout Out. I really believe that she is someone we should all follow and get to know, so click the pic at the top and follow the bouncing ball that is Dawn! Oh, and try not to get too dizzy.

Firgs, I am absolutely speechless. You have completely blown me away. Thank you so much for your sweet words.
Great message.
I tried to print off your message notes, but it is under Facebook, and so it will not allow me to print it. I missed some of your message as I was at the Pregnancy Center. Is there another way that I can get a copy?
Another add to my ever-growing blogroll. Ü
I probably post the same comment every week… “Thanks for another great shout-out, Firgs!” It’s true, though, you do know how to pick ‘em.
Go, Dawn, Go!!
Thanks for the inspiration! It’s great to hear of strong women making it all work.
I do not have a web site, or a blog, but would like to create one. Can you create a blog without a web site?
Jean
Hi Jean, it seems as if you are trying to talk to Dawn. Might I suggest trying to contact her through her website http://myhomesweethomeonline.net/contact/
You might get a quicker response that way.
