Hot Site – Operation Nice

I like to think that I am a nice person. I enjoy being nice to others and helping out when I can. So when I stumbled upon Operation Nice, I just knew I had to make it the Hot Site for this week. The concept is right up my ally. The site was developed by Melissa Morris Ivone back in July of 2008. (Happy early birthday Operation Nice!) Melissa was about to get on an elevator and stopped when she thought someone was about to go in before her. To her delight, the man stopped, held open the door, and motioned for her to go in first. A small and simple gesture that was nice. Melissa was not only delighted, but also inspired. She realized that there was a need to bring niceness to people’s attention and encourage others to be nice to one another.

Quote Operation Nice: "What we all need is a little NICE. Operation NICE encourages individuals to be proactively NICE. Stop by to read some positive, upbeat news stories (yes, they exist) about nice people. Download some tools to help you in your quest to communicate the concept of niceness. (or) Share a story or two about how someone made your day."

Melissa’s message about being nice to one another is something I truly love and support. And if you’re not sure what qualifies as nice, every week Melissa will give out a Nice Assignment to encourage you to be good to yourself or others.

But one thing I noticed when I went to visit it, was that Melissa is in need of a Twitter Icon that fits her design. I almost missed her section on Twitter in the side bar because she doesn’t have one. So, in honor of being nice, I made her one. :)

I love this site. Nice things actually do happen every day, but I think sometimes people forget to mention them or take them for granted. Operation Nice reminds us that the world is full of good people and I highly encourage you to click the pic above, and to just go out and be nice to someone today.
