I know a guy who’s brain and heart are humongous! Figuratively speaking of course. But, if you spend any amount of time with him either in person or via the internet, you’ll know what I say is true.

That link is to a video capture of a new application Peter is developing called "I paid who?" – a new way of managing your bill payments in a nice neat little database. It keeps track of who you paid, how much, when it was you paid them and you can edit to make changes at any time. I know hundreds of people are going to fall in love with this app once he’s finished it, because I know that I already have. (Although I’m usually pretty good at paying people on time, after I’ve made the payment it becomes ‘out of sight, out of mind’ and that can come back to bite me every now and then.)

Quote Peter: "I have always had a creative fire that needs to be released. Be it photography, music or pixels. I am fortunate enough that my careers have allowed me to follow my passion for creative outlets. Whilst working in the professional photographic field I happened to see Kai Krause demonstrate Bryce 1.0 on a UK television program and at that moment I knew I wanted to work with computer graphics and how they would shape the future of art and artists. Then as the Web became more mainstream I knew it would be the medium of choice for many and started working on web development. A typical day for me tends to vary depending on my tasks, but I can say for sure it will require Adobe Photoshop, Flash or Flex and most likely time with Microsoft’s .NET platform and related tools. I never know what to expect, it is not uncommon for me to learn a new skill or application the night before I need it due to how fast web technologies progress. But, to me a line of code can be as beautiful as any pixels on a canvas."

But on top of all this brainy awesomeness, Peter is genuinely kind and always ready to help out someone in need. Several times I have seen him help people with their website coding issues, and I’ve also seen him (through Twitter) go to a fellow Twitter user’s house to help them out with their technical issues. He has come to the aid of many technical distress calls, and although his brain is pretty huge, his heart is bigger.

I adore Peter, heart, brain, and soul. His art, photography, and coding genius make for one amazingly talented person. And this is why Peter Witham is today’s Shout Out!
