Greetings & Salutations!!!

In Firgs absence I felt it necessary to list why you should send her positive energy, happy joy joy thoughts, prayers and all that stuff, so she can get over her ailments and be back blogging soon.

Top Five Reasons You Should Read Design by Firgs

1. Firgs linked my blog. What blog is that you ask? Well I’m glad you did. Finish the rest of the list, and I’ll tell you.

2. Created by a designer for designers. If you like Wrestlemania or Golf this site probably isn’t for you, but if you’ve a creative mind and artistic ambitions, you bleed Photoshop actions, and crave new tutorials then you’re in the right place. Bookmark it baby, lock in that RSS feed, and spread the word.

3. Shout it! Shout it! Shout it out loud!!! If you’re an aspiring designer, have an interest in Photoshop, or better yet you’re just a damn fine interesting person, then you might one day make it on Firgs "Shout Out" list. These blogger bios are the talk of the town, not just for the shameless promotion, but the fact that Firgs ACTUALLY is interested in the people she promotes. I know… integrity say what?

4. Reviews. You know what’s better than gadgets? Chicks that dig gadgets. You know what’s better than chicks that dig gadgets? Chicks talking about gadgets. You know what’s better than that? Well we won’t talk about it here, you might be in the office, you dirty, dirty person. EDITOR’S NOTE – The guest blogger was quickly reprimanded and caned by Firgs personally for referring to you, dear reader, as a dirty pr0n enthusiast. And no, we won’t post pics of that either.

5. Contests. Who doesn’t love free swag? Firgs is good at findin’ you the deals, and even manages to have some cool contests to motivate the lazy artist in you. Competition is good, get on with your bad self, you too could be the next winner on this blog!

6. Content is king (or queen as is the case). Nuff said.

Yeah, I know that was more than five, what can I say, I exceed my blog budget for the day. Before I leave let me share with you my thoughts on keyboard shortcuts for Adobe products. Maybe it’s the classes I’m teaching today (Dreamweaver then Lightroom), but I’ve got keyboard shortcuts on the brain. Here are some quick observations: 1. Why are the Preferences in Dreamweaver activated by CMD+U (CTRL+U) and not CMD+K (CTRL+K)? Was Dreamweaver Uninvited to the preferences party by InDesign, Photoshop & Illustrator? It’s not like CMD+K is used for anything in Dreamweaver right now. 2. Speaking of preferences, you don’t even get a keyboard shortcut in Flash, and CMD+K (CTRL+K) opens the Align panel? Oh… I get it. *channels South Park* "I want to align stuff… mmmm K." 3. I thought "N" as a shortcut for the Survey View in Lightroom was bad until I saw CMD+B (CTRL+B) for the Review Mode (casually referred to as the Carousel View) in Adobe Bridge. Here’s how I remember those two diddys:

"Do you like taking surveys?" "No. Nobody likes taking surveys."

That’s how I remember N for Survey View.

"It’s Best to review your images Before adding to your design."

That’s how I remember CMD+B for Review Mode in Bridge.

Hope you enjoyed my time here at Design by Firgs. Thanks to Firggy for havin’ me over. Feel free to pop by and visit me at ajwood.com or @reply aj_wood on Twitter, better yet meet me in person this week at Photoshop World, Vegas.
