It’s never too late for Link Love! :D This week it’s all about typography, photography, cinematography, beginner blunders, and shocking stories!

Top Ten Re-Tweets Of The Week!

week12_01Anyone that knows me, knows that I am a Typography geek. I love love love the written word. So when I saw Why Typography is Important by Vasily Vasinov a big huge grin came across my face. In this beautifully constructed article that includes a table of contents and a bibliography, Vasily covers a little history, how type is used on the web, spacing, punctuation, and in general, takes you a step further beyond the basics of working with type. Great article! Loved it!

week12_02If you don’t know yet, B&H opened up their first blog back in March. The article listed above: The FSA Today? by Megan Iverson – brings about the very interesting question, what would life be like if our governments hired photographers to take photographs of our struggling economic times? Coupled with haunting black and white photographs taken during the Great Depression, this is a stand out article.

week12_03Dennis Hays and his brainchild – Photo News Today is loaded with photography goodness. I re-tweeted him this week because I wanted to make sure people knew about him and his website. If you are a photographer of any kind, follow this man! You’ll thank me for it. ;)

I want a huge print of this Typography Flowchart for my wall!!! It’s genius and wins my vote for favorite tweet of the week! You just have to see it to understand. :D

week12_05First of all, I would like to say that “The Art of Non-Conformity” is just a really beautiful site to look at. The design art is really good! But once you get past that, the article “Your Backup Plan is Your Plan” really makes you think. Is your current plan your only plan? If you have/had a backup plan would it distract you from your original goal? Read it. Think it through.

week12_06All right, by now most of you have heard about the guy that left the new iPhone prototype in a bar only to be found by the Gizmodo team who in turn spilled it’s guts (the iPhone’s) all over their website. But, if you haven’t read the story yet – it’s pretty much a lot like a geek’s dream come true, if it is indeed true. Just in case there is someone out there that missed this story, I’ll keep my opinions about it quiet… for now.

week12_07When you get good news, it’s hard not to rush to the computer to let everyone know your good fortune. But sometimes, this is not the best idea. Steven Harper Piziks takes a look at when it’s time to “Squee” in the world of writing, however, I found the information to be universally helpful. Sometimes, it’s just better to wait. ;)

Women in Silicon Valley? Yes. They are there and they are starting to get noticed, however, there is still a long way to go. I don’t care if you are a man or a woman, if you are an entrepreneur this is a fantastic article to read and take note of. I’m so glad that the Geek Girl community is talking about it.

week12_09And now for a Tweet that went right to my heart. I grew up in Michigan and right now, all over the state, there is a big push to make it a new Movie Making Capital. Considering that my brother, a movie producer, is there working hard to make this dream come true, you know I had to re-tweet this! Please, go learn more about the Detroit Film Office and their upcoming events. It’s going to be so great to breathe new life into this area! :D

week12_10Normally, the photographers that I know, don’t exactly enjoy being tied to anything. Tethered to their computer however, well, that’s another story. With this new technology, you can have your images go right from your camera and into Lightroom the moment you snap the image. How cool is that!?
