Top Ten Re-Tweets of the Week #17
It’s the Re-Tweets of the Week! For those new to DBF this is the point in the week where I recap some of the better links dished out on that popular link lovin’, social climbing website we all know and love, and sometimes love to hate – Twitter.
So let’s get started!
Top Ten Re-Tweets Of The Week!
It’s no secret that Abduzeedo is one of the best websites around for design inspiration. They always seem to know the collections that only contain the highest quality of ideas and execution. And this collection of Print Ads by D-Lists is no exception. If you’re looking for some fresh ideas this week, check here.

And while we’re on the topic of Abduzeedo, this week they posted a collection of “Secret” shortcuts for Photoshop by Medhley. Although all 30 of these shortcuts are presented to you in Mac keys, they are easily transferable to a PC. I was impressed by this collection because every single one of them related to speeding up my every-day workflow. This is one to print out.

Pixel Jockey is one of my all time favorite people on Twitter. He is not only fun to talk to, he also usually has tweets best design links for ideas, resources, and information. I owe about half of my bookmark list to him. 30 Fresh FreeFonts for Designers is a fun, and pretty unique collection sure to satisfy any type junkie.

Meet Kevin Stohlmeyer, Adobe certified instructor, and his post on photo retouching. As Kevin states at the start of this post, the debate of when retouching is ok, and when has it gone too far, has been around for ever. But Kevin brings up a really good and worthy question – should retouchers get a credit byline the way that photographers do? Interesting question and worthy of a Re-Tweet.

If you follow this site, you will know that I am a major fan of Rands. I see him as a modern day Sage for Geeks and Nerds – something that I am very proud to call myself. So when he tweets a link, you can bet I’m checking it out. I found this one to be pretty cool because it contains 110 vector icons. I’ve seen vector icon lists before, but none like this one.

Tanya Salcido is the proud owner of Design Action Studios in sunny Orange County, California; and I adore her. She is very smart about her design business and what’s better is that she is willing to share her information with other designers like her. Color Psychology In Branding is a perfect example of this. Read this article, and you’ll know why I follow her.
_____
Yes! Your eyes do not deceive you, it is tweet number two from Pixel Jockey. The only person to make it twice into a single re-tweet post – seriously, follow this guy! Clever and Creative Tea Packaging is a collection of innovative and even somewhat awe inspiring packaging. If you ever want a true test of your design skills, then come up with a package design for something that has been around for centuries. Really fun article!

This tweet wins my vote for favorite tweet of the week. Seth Goodin decided that his birthday needed to change. In this post he explains that he wants to give his birthday over to Charity Water in the hopes that the gift giving spirit will land on them instead of him. Build a well, build a village, and may we all live to celebrate our existence.

You know I had to include a Tweet about the Old Spice phenomenon that hit the inter-webs yesterday. Whoever came up with that marketing campaign is a total genius!!! But also, I wanted to point out Social Fresh. This company holds one-day conferences that help smaller companies get the most out of using social media – and they will bring the conference to you. I love these guys!

Let’s hear it for the ladies!
100 Must Read Blogs by Women is in itself a must read. Everything from news and politics, to life and fitness, from design to economics, and from business and technology to home life and parenting. It’s all here and every site listed is owned by a woman. I present this collection with pride.
